San Fernando is the most populous city and second most populous municipality in Trinidad and Tobago, following Chaguanas. Locally known as “Sando,” it occupies an area of 19 km² in the southwestern part of the island of Trinidad. The city is bounded by the Guaracara River to the north, the Oropouche River to the south, the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway to the east, and the Gulf of Paria to the west.
